- This article provides a detailed explanation on how to create a geofence to set dangerous contact areas and deviation prevention areas with your 3DMG construction equipment.
- By setting up a geofence, you will be alerted when approaching a geofence area and the area will be clearly indicated. The tablet app also emits an audible warning to alert the operator of the danger.
*The geofence function may be spotty, and possibly not operate properly depending on the environment and outside conditions. Please use with caution and only after understanding the conditions of use.
**Unavailable for 2DMG mdoe, 2 Piece Boom, and Swing Boom at this moment.
Activating the geofence mode
1. Open "select screen", by tapping the gear icon {1}.
2. Turn on "Geofence" and then tap the checkmark {2}.
3. Select "Machine Guidance" {1} and tap the checkmark on the notice displayed on the screen {2}.
Basic settings for geofence mode
1. Tap the gear icon to open the menu {1}, select "Geofence Settings" {2}, and then select "Geofence Basic Settings" {3}.
2. Select "Geofence Type" {1} and proceed to the next step to edit Basic settings (Radius, Height, 2D or 3D, Alert type, Detection interval, Transparency, and Color {2}.
*For reference, here is the procedure for the circle type
Wall type is only available in 3D, with default settings for thickness and height.
For Line type, you can only use 3D type, you can set the radius to the center line when connecting point A and point B.
3. After the basic settings, set "Alert Settings" {1} for geofence intrusion, and "Detection Range" for each part of the construction machine for thrust detection settings.
Alert setting: Lights up and sounds on the screen when the machine detects a geofence area created by the machine.
Setting of collision detection: Referring to the illustration, measure and set the detection range of boom, arm, and bucket.
X: Length Y: Width Z: Vertical width
A: Angular area of turning range
B and C: Radius from center of machine body
D: Vertical height with respect to revolving frame
Creating a geofence
1. Tap the shortcut icon {1}, then select the Create Geoid Fence icon {2}, & choose the type of geoid fence you wish to create {3}, and then proceed.
2. Confirm that enter the name, the caution to be set, and the necessary input values (shape dimensions, coordinates, etc.) to create the geofence, then check the geofence you created is reflected in the list.
The following is the procedure for the circle type for reference.
Enter the coordinates of the cutting edge or directly input points and radius R
For 2D: A circle area can be created
For 3D: You can set the height of the circle area
Geofence list
1. Tap the gear icon {1}, and select "Project file" {2}.
2. Touch the edit icon {3} of the selected project.
Tap the geoid fence icon {4}, the created list will be displayed.
Touch the icon to confirm the view of the shapes you have created.
4. How to check
If a geofence is entered with collision detection set, a caution will be generated and the operator will be alerted.

Geofence Models
For Wall type
After entering coordinates (cutting edge point or direct input), determine length and width.
Enter the height (H) to specify the height of the wall.
Offsetting can be used to adjust the height.
For Line type
Obtain points A and B from the cutting edge points or by direct input, and determine the radius centered on the line between the two points.
Offset is available for height adjustment.
Display function of detection area
Select "Guidance Settings" from the menu {1}.
Click "Application Settings" {2}.
Turn ON Detection Area Display Mode {3}.
The detection area of the bucket, arm, boom, and body will be displayed.
Geofence data transfer function
You can download geofence areas created in Pilot (WEB) and set them up in the jobsite.
Tap the Download button to download the geofence data and confirm that it appears in the list.
Internet connection is required for downloading.
